Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)

Song written by Kris Kristofferson, in August 1971, for the seal Monument, with the production of Fred Foster. Interestingly the song was never released on country charts, it was released on lists, U.S. Billboard Hot 100 & U.S. Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks, arriving at the position number 26 and number 4, respectively. The song was included on the album, The Silver Tongued Devil and I (Monument 1971).

The two most successful versions on country lists were the Roger Miller version and the Tompall & the Glaser Brothers version.

Roger Miller recorded the song for the Mercury label and released the single in July 1971, reaching the 28th position of American country charts, and the number 8 position in Canadian country charts. The song was included in the compilation album, The Best Of Roger Miller (Mercury 1971).

The most curious thing is that he was not the first to record it, the first recording was the same year, in February, recorded by Waylon Jennings, for his album, the taker / Tulsa (RCA), even Ray Price, also recorded a few months before , specifically in May of the same year, for his album, I Will not Mention It Again (Columbia) .and also the same month as Kristoferson, the Roger Miller record, in a single (Mercury), the same Bobby Bare, also the I record the same month of July and I include it in the album, I Need Some Good News Bad (Mercury).

Kris Kristofferson - Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again) Lyrics

I’ve seen the morning burning golden on the mountains in the skies

Aching with the feeling of the freedom of an eagle when she flies

Turning on the world the way she smiles upon my soul as I lay dying

Healing with the colors of the sunshine and the shadow of her eyes

Waking in the morning to the feeling of her fingers on my skin

Wiping out the traces of the people and the places that I’ve been

Teaching me that yesterday was something that I never thought of trying

Talking of tomorrow and the money love and time we’d have to spend

Loving her was easier than anything I’ll ever do again

Coming close together with a feeling that I’ve never know before in my time

She ain’t ashamed to be a woman or afraid to be a friend

I don’t know the answer to the easy way she opens every door in my mind

Dreaming was as easy as believing it was never gonna end

Loving her was easier than anything I’ll ever do again

Loving her was easier than anything I’ll ever do again
